While Chalet Village cabins allow you to “get away from it all” in the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee, sometimes you’ll want to venture out of your cabin and explore some of the area’s unique attractions.
First, Chalet Village guests often spend time outdoors at Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, the park features picnic areas, visitor centers, and historic grist mills. Horseback riding is available from mid-March through late November at four stables in the park. Since elevations range from 875 to 6,643 feet in the park, temperatures can vary 10-20 degrees Fahrenheit from mountain base to top, so keep that in mind when deciding what to wear and bring along on your hike or picnic.
Next, for fans of Country music and amusement park rides, the world famous Dollywood is nearby. You can tour the interactive Dolly Parton museum at this fun 150-acre park. If the weather is hot, Dollywood’s Splash Country features water slides and attractions for young and old alike. New for 2013, you can see Cirque Shanghai performances at Dollywood. Cirque Shanghai combines traditional and modern Chinese acrobatics alongside daring displays of physical strength and fantastic feats of balance.
Finally, not too far from Chalet Village is Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies. A visit to this highly-rated aquarium takes you through many different environments, from the tropical rainforest to the ocean realm. Along the way, you’ll see stingrays, sharks, penguins and more.
